2022.01.19 22:18 LastTerm moving classes to in person Jan 31st

i know people want to go back to in person learning but is anyone else frustrated by this?? i certainly am!!! i dont think its fair to switch back during the semester, a month in too when people have moved back home and already gotten into routines that work for them. i know they warned us in advanced about this possible return but its not fair to make us go in person during a pandemic when schools like queens are virtual till at least march 1st. idk about anyone here but the switch certainly messes up my routine.

Considering a 2016 BMW 335i. The ride quality is pretty good however I wish it was a bit more dynamic in terms of how it handles. I commute 30 minutes into the city every day so something comfortable but comes alive on backroads is what I’m looking for. Any other suggestions? 26k budget

2022.01.19 22:18 silkmatter 22 [M4F] Oregon/Anywhere- Looking for a serious relationship

Hey! I’m ian, I live in Oregon and I’m looking for my person as corny as that sounds, I know Reddit may not be the best place for this but I don’t think everyone’s person is always where they live.
I don’t have or want kids and I’m looking for a relationship with someone who also doesn’t have or want kids
About me:
•6’0 tall
•I love music and sports, I also love video games, anything creative, netflix, YouTube, anime, hanging out with friends, going on random adventures, traveling and lots of other things
•mostly introverted but I can be outgoing when I’m comfortable, I don’t like going to parties most of the time but I do love concerts and other things, I have social anxiety but once I’m comfortable I do better
•currently unemployed because an injury I’m trying to deal with, don’t worry I’m not lazy and unemployed by choice, in fact I love being active when I’m healthy
•I’d describe myself as kind, caring, funny, shy, affectionate, loyal, accepting, laid back
•I don’t take myself too serious, I love to joke and can take a joke
https://imgur.com/a/pRO5NER This is what I look like, first few pics are most recent, I cut my long hair off
What I’m looking for:
•someone who can handle a long distance relationship until we are eventually able to meet up and my end goal would be to of course be in real life together in the future
•someone who is loyal and has trust and can be in a committed relationship and not cheat on me
•someone who loves music and has similar interests to me, don’t worry you don’t have to like sports lol
•someone who doesn’t take themself too seriously
•someone accepting and nice and loving and affectionate and caring
•someone who can joke around with me but also be lovey
I really want to find that amazing connection with someone where we are best friends but also a couple and be able to talk about absolutely everything together and have an unbreakable bond
If I sound like what you’re looking for, let’s chat and see if we click! Also please have pictures of yourself too because I do believe a physical attraction is really important in a relationship too

Is there anyway to make your forward and backwards thrust behave like your laterals eg up down and left and right. I discovered that you can drive an srv soooo much easier by disabling drive assist and changing the way you throttle. Now it drives like a car instead of some speed demon who's settings are snail and f1 drag rancer

2022.01.19 22:18 MaybeAnHVACGuy What will Residential HVAC look like in 15 years?

Once everything is communicating systems and proprietary thermostats, furnaces and condensers that diagnose themselves, what do yall foresee the the life of an HVAC tech in those times? The barrier of entry for becoming a technician will be so much lower. Do yall think this could affect residential wages? Also we have to consider that once everything is a communicating system, you will pretty much be delegated to only working on whatever brand your company sells. We might not be able to work on other brands systems without voiding their warranties.
Obviously service calls will most likely be relatively similar to what they are now but i am kind of curious about what yall think will happen to daily maintenance plans and wages once everything is so easy to diagnose and there is no reason to open up a unit anymore because the computer does all the maintaining of the expensive equipment and throws alert codes.

2022.01.19 22:18 ViewAffectionate8131 Something I had cooked up, thought this sub would enjoy, it's pretty long. Sorry XD

Eugene Ives lived a boring life as a man from Montana. He lived on his own property next to a wildlife reserve where animals thrived. Eugene, or Ives as the locals called him, lived alone in a 1 story 2 bedroom house just on the outskirts of Choteau Montana, a small quiet town that housed about 500 residents. Ives liked solitude, he rationed his time spent around people very carefully and sparsely, so as to avoid them as much as possible. Amongst his private life and hobbies he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, hunting, and poaching. Especially poaching, he enjoyed the exotic animals that were known as “off limits” to those of the hunt, he liked to look at his works, his pelts. To know something so uncommon hung in living rooms across the nation resided on his floor. It was a treat, he would smile as he awoke to the baby moose head that hung over his dresser. Dried lifeless badger furs he would drape over his sofa, rabbits he’d fashion into lamps, and red foxes he’d use as floor mats in his bathroom. He’d sell some of the real game to the town, making an honest earning, at least in that regard, using what little money he made to sustain himself and pay for his hobbies. One night however, it was a different night, the moon’s light creeping over the pines, calling out to be seen. The leaves rustled on what trees still had leaves, while pines stood firm and yet soothing nonetheless.
Ives on this fall night grabbed his gun and went outside, dawning his hunting cap, his four layers barely shielding him from the fall wind. He went out and waited out by his driveway, where his car was parked. “South.” he muttered to himself, his voice having not been used in days, came out raspy and weak. He walked South of his pickup truck, heading towards what was potentially his prey, his gun strung over his shoulder. His eyes trained forward, inspecting every bit of movement he thought he had seen. Ives had used this trail before, last time he went to it, he hadn't shot anything, anything of value anyway. He continued walking along, a small limp developing as an ache sprung out from his foot over the period of trekking. Finally as Ives approached the place where he had trailed he lowered himself on the ground and looked through the scope, it’s icey rubber grip pressing against the outline of his socket. He lowered his finger and flipped off the safety. Watching with bated breath and a silence so still only the wind dared break it.
Ives spotted a few birds, some looking particularly tasty, but he decided to hold back, as compromising his position would alert and ruin his chances of getting anything at this spot. He inspected the frosted ground, turning around periodically to make sure he wasn’t being watched himself. His night trained scope traced the outline of the ground. So slowly, and still. Movement. 192 degrees southward he trained his eye on the movement and spotted his prize. A beautiful gray wolf, male, leading a pack. It’s eyes glowing somewhat supernaturally against the glow of the moon. It seemed to have noticed him as well. Ives smiled at the animal's stare, knowing it’d be it’s last. It’s eyes would be lifeless, staring at his fireplace for all eternity. Ives smile faded as a faint whisper, almost like the wind, called to him.
“Don’t” Ives opened his mouth in fear watching the wolf’s glowing eyes train on him, like they were reading him, not pleading, but daring him to do it. Ives stared at the wolf for a minute longer, it’s glowing eyes, no longer seeming real to him. It’s eyes seemed to have him pinned. Ives squeezed the trigger and couldn’t bring it down, his body convulsing not understanding what this meant. The wolf stared longer and harder. Ives watched as his vision seemed to become inverted, as if he was looking through the opposite side of a pair of binoculars. Ives closed his eyes, finally willing himself to squeeze the trigger. Vanquishing the animal there. The wolf ran 20 steps East and collapsed, it’s kin bolting every which way. Birds skittered, the world jumped at Ives’s sudden burst of sound and chaos, Ives reveled in it. He had forgotten the feeling of being in fear, and only remembered the feeling of being feared. He was the apex predator, and this wolf was his prey. He approached the beast, to claim his prize.
Four days later Ives had finished skinning the beast. It’s gray pattern with white tufts layed out in front of him, outside in his backyard drying in the sun's heat and the wind's brisk blow. It took the pelt four weeks to fully dry, he washed it, and brushed it and admired it’s beautiful hair. The patterns seemed to draw Ives somehow, it held a special place in his heart. Wanting to keep it there he went to work, fashioning sleeves and putting a zipper on it, he even put his own hood on and hard a lining of fur on the outside as if he thought he was an Eskimo. He loved this coat and he had never worn it. He went outside and put the jacket on. It’s warmth making him feel giddy, he wanted to go to town and show everyone. He didn’t care about the law, the coat was perfect. The coat, no, Eugene, was above the law, and 4 weeks ago on that night, he had proved it.
Ives went outside grabbing his gun from the porch step a week later. Looking up at the night sky, the moon and the stars greeted him as if he were a familiar friend. He had invited guests over for the following night for the first time in years. His drinking buddies, would be at his house and he was excited to show them his pristin jacked and the tail of him against the wolf. As he stepped off the porch Ives stopped. Feeling chafed by the coat, he reached to unzip the top and felt no zipper. Ives confused thinking he had put the coat on backwards somehow felt around the back of the coat. The static popping as he searched. No zipper. It was that moment of realization, that moment of clarity when Ives heard a familiar sound. A voice, for the first time in a month. “I warned you.” Ives grabbed the base of the coat and began trying to rip it off but when he grabbed the bottom lining he had only felt his own skin, no not skin. He felt sick, a sharp pain searing in his brain all the way down his spine to his legs. Ives being to distracted from his own screams, had neglected to hear the cracking of his legs and doubling of his vision. He was growing, he felt a warm, almost hot, uncomfortable heat starting to envelop his leg. He looked down to see his legs bent down in a new position that was completely unnatural, he fell over and finally noticed his arms, growing in bulk and in length almost ripped through his other layers. He wanted to lay down and stare at the moon, as he was in pain, but something else was in control now. It was watching Ives transform through Ives’s own eyes. Almost like two beings fighting over who gets to drive. Ives ignored the pain and focused on the flood of his thoughts. Almost like they were, leaving him. His brain felt empty, it felt abandoned, he tried to recall his past, his childhood, his life, it was there, but now he only felt empty. Whatever he was ripped off the rest of his clothes and stared down at his now aching transformed form. Ives, trapped in his own consciousness, rebelled as much as he could against this new plight, trying to will himself to move his arm or at least step but all he got was refusal. The sinking feeling that he was gone, and whatever was out there, was now him. Ives stopped fighting, his consciousness drifting, as one final phrase echoed before his deep slumber, “My turn to hunt, Eugene.”
